Lionel Messi has reportedly fallen out with Paris Saint-Germain teammate Mauro Icardi and wants his fellow Argentine sold.

After leaving Barcelona following La Liga’s refusal to accept his new contract due to the club’s wage limit, Messi made the move to PSG on a free transfer and signed a two-year contract.

He’s scored three times in the Champions League, including a brace against RB Leipzig on Tuesday, but has yet to open his account in Ligue One.

On the surface Messi appears to have settled in well in his new environment after a 21-year stint at Barcelona, but El Nacional say the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has a “tense” relationship with Icardi and it is beginning to cause a divide in Mauricio Pochettino’s dressing room.

It’s claimed the feud stems from the fact that Icardi feels Messi, La Albiceleste’s captain and talisman, is the reason he has not featured for the national team for three years.

His last appearance came in a friendly against Mexico in 2018.

Messi’s arrival at PSG is said to have changed the dynamic amongst the squad and there’s talk Icardi, signed from Inter Milan, could be dispensed.

According to reports, PSG are prepared to offload Icardi to Barcelona in a swap deal for Sergio Aguero, Messi’s close friend and long-time roommate.

The Manchester City legend signed for the Blaugrana in the summer and thought he would play with Messi at club level for the first time, only to see the 34-year-old depart the Nou Camp almost immediately.

Aguero has only just made his debut with Barca after struggling with injuries and the club understandably do not want to get rid of him already.

This week, following a very public social media spat with his wife Wanda Nara following claims he cheated, there were reports that Icardi had threatened to leave PSG unless his other half came back to him.

The couple now appear to have patched things up.
