Ricardo Quaresma came up with a novel way of dealing with time-wasters after he picked up and carried an injured opponent to the touchline.

The former Barcelona star now plays for Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes and his side were trailing to Belenenses in the dying minutes of the match on Sunday.

In an effort to run down the clock, Afonso Sousa fell to the floor but Quaresma was having none of it.

The 38-year-old bent down and scooped Sousa into his arms before he started to carry him off the pitch

As he walked, he could be seen telling off the 21-year-old before he was stopped by Sousa’a teammates.

For his efforts, Quaresma received a yellow card despite explaining to the referee that he was just trying to get the game going again.
