Somali players are known for their skills and high football IQ. Some of these players have shared the pitch with some of the best players in the world like Balloteli and Mesut Ozil.

But despite their professionalism and huge potential, Somalia National Football Team has one of the lowest football ranking in the world thanks to the country’s corrupt Football Federation officials that have paralyzed Somali Football.

Last year, the players were made to play in the Fifa Arab Cup with no prior friendlies and a coach, having not played for 2 straight years. They faced a well prepared Omani team and were knocked out of the competition after they were beaten 2 goals to 1.

After the game, the captain told reporters, “We have not lost to Oman, we’ve lost to our Football Federation.”

To the Somali Government and officials, you’ve got exceptionally talented youth who take pride in representing their country. Do not demoralize them. Somalia needs sports more than anything as the youth make up 70% of the population. Investing in sports means dissuading the youth from vices such as dirty politics, tribalism, and terrorism.

How cool would it be, to see Somalia playing Algeria or Nigeria, with all the youth in the country watching from every city, rallying behind their Team!
