Sevilla to go top of the table with win over Celta Vigo

Sevilla suffered a shocking defeat in the hands of Granada on matchday 8. The defeat prevented them from going level on points with Real Madrid who are at the top of the table.

Sevilla now have the chance to go top of the table with a win over Celta Vigo as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid’s games this weekend have been postponed.

Celta Vigo have been struggling so far this season. They are presently 15th in the table with 7 points out of 8 matches.

Celta Vigo lost 1-0 to fellow strugglers Elche just before the international break and are in desperate need of a win to move away from the relegation zone.

Just three points separate separates them from the relegation zone. Four of Celta Vigo’s last six games all finished in losses.

Last season, Sevilla won both matches against Celta Vigo. Both games finished with over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. Sevilla won at home 4-2 and claimed a 4-3 victory away at Celta Vigo.

Celta Vigo have taken just three points from 12 on offer at home this season. They have conceded five times this term while scoring three goals at home.

They claimed a 1-0 win over Granada in their last home game which ended a three-game losing streak.

Eduardo Coudet has two injury issues going into the game for Celta Vigo. Midfielder Blais Mendez and midfielder Renato Tapia are both doubts for the game. Mendez has an ankle injury and Tapia is nursing a calf issue.

Sevilla have taken five points from 12 on offer this season on the road. Just two goals have been scored by Sevilla on the road while two goals have been allowed to opponents.

Lopetegui is without forward Youssef En-Nesyri who is ruled out until mid-November with a hamstring injury. The loss of En-Nesyri is a big blow.

The team failed to score against Granada showing just how massive the loss of En-Nesyri is.

Defender Diego Carlos is suspended for the game on Sunday. Lopetegui will need to alter things at the back for Sevilla this weekend.

Sevilla are unbeaten in 10 of their last 13 games against Celta Vigo in all competitions. Los Rojiblancos should claim another win this weekend against a struggling Celta Vigo.
