Manchester United supporters have been made to feel sorry for Donny van de Beek once again after he was “used as a coach” during the warm-up prior to the win over Spurs.
United responded to the 6-0 humbling at the hands of Liverpool last week with a 3-0 away win, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford all on the scoresheet.
Yet again, Van De Beek, who has played just 141 minutes in all competitions this term, was an unused substitute for the Red Devils
In fact, his only contributions were during the warm-up where he was filmed giving lay-offs to his teammates as they took shots at goal.
Normally you would get a coach doing this job in the shooting drills, though it has been noted that Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard have done it on occasion.
But it’s pretty much the only thing Van de Beek, a £35 million signing in 2020, has been doing and United fans are not happy with the treatment he’s receiving.
The Netherlands international has played just 1,597 minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, starting just two games in the Premier League.
Clearly unhappy with his lack of game-time and situation on the hall, Van de Beek has recently changed agents and hired Ali Dursun following conversations in the dressing room, as per the Daily Mail.
Dursun represents Victor Lindelof and Van de Beek’s former Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong, now at Barcelona.
The same report claims Everton and Wolves have registered an interest in taking the 24-year-old on loan as we head towards the January transfer window.
Fans are clearly not happy with such a huge talent being wasted and have made their anger known through rants on social media:
